I must do this.

It is the beginning of October tomorrow. New month. New start. I have decided.


Background
Unfortunately, I adore junk food and I HATE salad so I find this difficult. I love crisps and pizza too much.

When I was 18, I was a Size 12 but that was due to being pretty ill with chronic IBS. I had this from age 11 and after I had chinese acupuncture treatment, my illness improved vastly and since I was no longer ill and on the toilet all the time, I gained lots of weight as a result. This is in combination of picking up poor eating habits and enjoying stuff that's bad for me!

I consider myself as somebody who comfort eats. I have been clinically depressed since I was 15 years old and to take my mind off things, I have reached out for the junk food. At the age of 26, I still respond in this way now if I am feeling low. I do feel bad afterwards for doing it as I know it is stupid and it's only helping me feel better for the short term. 

Now
I am now a Size 16 bottom but I am usually a Size 18 for my top half because of my bust. I have always had a large bust, even at a Size 12. It is difficult finding clothes that fit me and by losing weight, it would be easier shopping.

I currently cycle to work and back (about 3 miles altogether). I was doing the gym for a few months earlier on in the year and was losing weight. I moved house end of May this year and my depression returned with a vengeance in the summer and I just lost motivation. I am being treated and now I feel more positive.

Why I want to shift weight
There are a number of reasons why I wish to shift some weight.


  • It will be better for my health.
  • I want to feel happy with how my body looks.
  • I want the confidence to wear a bikini on a holiday
  • Buying clothes/bras will be easier
  • I want my bust size to go down
  • A friend of mine has recently lost 10 stone in 6 months through diet and exercise. If that isn't inspiration, then I don't know what is!

My aim
I want to be a Size 12 again. My target date is August next year.

To be honest, I am unsure of how much weight I will need to lose to achieve this. So I am going with 3 stone. If I need to lose more weight to do this, then at least I have enough time to do so. 

How I Intend to do this

- Low fat and low sugar diet. 
- Continue cycling to work
- Go to the gym at least 3 times a week. Ideally more than that but it depends on work commitments.



Tomorrow, I shall be buying a tape measure to help track my progress. Now I am off for a farewell Indian dinner....
